Umm Fahad’s hairdresser was arrested on charges of her murder
Iraqi security officials detained the hairstylist on suspicion of involvement in a murder plot involving blogger Ghufran Mehdi Sawadi, better known by his stage name “Umm Fahad.”
This followed the fact that only hours before her murder, when visiting the accused’s barbershop, Umm Fahad recorded her last video.
The mother of the accused, whose name is Haitham, added that “her son, at the moment of Umm Fahd’s assassination, had just posted on his Instagram account the same video clip in which he was styling the hair of the Iraqi blogger.”
She pointed out that Umm Fahd’s brother had said during the investigations that the arrested defendant, Haitham, was “innocent.”
His brother said, “Haitham left the salon as soon as he learned what had happened, only to be surprised that he was quickly arrested, simply because he was wearing a black shirt that resembled the killer’s clothing.”
She brought up the fact that Umm Fahd’s brother had declared the detained defendant Haitham to be “innocent” while the investigations were ongoing.
According to his brother, “Haitham left the salon as soon as he learned what had happened, only to be surprised that he was quickly arrested, simply because he was wearing a black shirt that resembled the killer’s clothing.”
He went on to explain that they had moved him around several jails and had no idea who he was since his arrest.
On April 27, an unidentified motorcyclist murdered blogger Umm Fahad as she sat in her vehicle outside her central Baghdad home.
