Video: UAE President breaks fast with worshippers at Sheikh Zayed Mosque
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE made a surprise appearance at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque courtyard on Sunday evening, joining residents for the iftar meal in observance of Ramadan.
The presence of the President, alongside other dignitaries including Vice-President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed Al Nahyan, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, left the gathered faithful in a state of quiet reverence.
Attendees, both surprised and honored by the unexpected visit, captured the moment on their mobile phones as Sheikh Mohamed and his entourage joined them for iftar.
The President, in a gesture of humility, gestured for the attendees to begin their iftar, marking the end of the day’s fast, and engaged in conversations with the crowd, inquiring about their well-being.
Seated on the ground alongside other leaders, the group partook in the simple iftar meal, which typically includes a fresh salad, a piece of fruit, and a traditional rice dish with meat. The meal boxes also included water, laban, and yogurt packets to complete the iftar experience.
During his visit, President Sheikh Mohamed also took the time to meet with worshippers inside the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, further emphasizing the spirit of community and compassion that defines the holy month of Ramadan.
