How Frankfurt Muslims prepare for Ramadan

Muslims in the city of Frankfurt, located in Germany, are now getting ready to celebrate the upcoming holy month of Ramadan especially. 

They plan to decorate Gross Bockenheimer Street with colorful lanterns, crescents, stars, and the message “Ramadan Mubarak.” The street will light up starting on March 10, just in time for the start of Ramadan next Monday.

The mayor of Frankfurt, Narges Alexandri Grunberg, shared the news on the city’s official website. She mentioned that illuminating the streets during Ramadan will show that the people of this city are united in peace and harmony.

Mayor Grünberg hopes that this decoration will spread a message of love and respect, countering any feelings of exclusion, hatred, racism, or anti-Semitism.

In these times filled with challenges and conflicts around the world, for one reason or another, the lights on Gross Bockenheimer Street could be seen as a reminder to everyone just how important it is to have hope and for people to come together. Mayor Grünberg believes that these lights will bring people together and create a sense of harmony in the beautiful city.

It is also a way for Frankfurt to show that it stands against discrimination and promotes understanding among all its residents. As Ramadan approaches, the city’s festive decorations will not only be felt by Muslims but all those who happen to either live in the city or are visiting.
