Lupita Nyong’o stars in ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ prequel trailer
Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, a spin-off prequel to the hit horror franchise ‘A Quiet Place’.
The film, written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, based on an original story by John Krasinski and Sarnoski, stars Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn as two strangers who must work together to escape from New York City on the day the deadly alien creatures with hyper-sonic hearing arrive on Earth.
The trailer shows the chaos and panic that ensues as the city is attacked by the monsters, and how Nyong’o’s character, Sam, a woman on a day trip to the city, meets Quinn’s character, Eric, a young man who lives there. The two decide to team up and find a way out of the city, using sign language, gestures, and whispers to communicate and avoid making any noise that would attract the creatures.
The film also features Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou, and Denis O’Hare in supporting roles. Hounsou reprises his role from ‘A Quiet Place Part II’ as the unnamed “Man on the Island”, who helps the survivors of the invasion. The film is produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and Krasinski, who also directed and starred in the first two films of the series.
‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ is set to be released theatrically on June 28, 2024. It is the third installment of the ‘A Quiet Place’ film series, which has grossed over $600 million worldwide. A direct sequel to the first two films, ‘A Quiet Place: Part III’, is also in development, with Krasinski returning as writer and director.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “As the title suggests, the film will explore the beginning of the invasion in which deadly alien creatures with hyper-sonic hearing arrive on Earth and the people they encounter.”
