Florence Pugh injured after fan hit her with object at Dune Comic Con
Florence Pugh, the Oscar-nominated actress who stars in the upcoming sci-fi film Dune: Part Two, was injured by a fan’s attack on Sunday.
She was attending a Comic Con event in Brazil with her co-stars Zendaya, Austin Butler and Timothée Chalamet, when someone from the audience threw an object at her. The object hit her in the right eye, causing her to flinch and leave the stage.
Pugh was taken to a hospital for medical attention. Her current status is unknown. The police are looking for the person who threw the object and the reason behind the attack. The incident was captured on video and shared online by many fans who were shocked and outraged by the act of violence.
Pugh was in São Paulo to promote Dune: Part Two, the sequel to the successful 2021 film based on the classic novel by Frank Herbert. She plays Chani, a warrior and lover of Paul Atreides, the main character played by Chalamet. The film is scheduled to be released in March 2024.
Pugh is not the first celebrity to be assaulted by fans while on stage. Earlier this year, Harry Styles was hit in the eye with a candy at a concert in Austria, and Pink was disturbed by a bag of human ashes that was thrown on stage during her show at BST Hyde Park. In July, Adele joked about throwing a T-shirt gun at anyone who would throw something at her during a Las Vegas show. She said that people have forgotten “show etiquette”. In June, Bebe Rexha fell on the floor after being hit by a phone at a performance in New York. She had to get stitches above her left eye. The man who threw the phone said he did it because he thought “it would be funny”.
