El Chapo’s wife, Emma Coronel released from US prison
Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s wife, Emma Coronel has been released from US jail after a two-year sentence since November 2021.
She was accused of drug trafficking charges leading to her sentence of three years in prison which was later reduced to two as mentioned above. The Federal Bureau of Prisons in the US confirmed her release.
Her husband, the Mexican drug lord, El Chapo is currently serving a life sentence at a supermax jail in Colorado.

It is said that the notorious drug lord, El Chapo met Emma who is now 34 at a local beauty competition when she was only 17 years old and got married to him when she turned 18, but it has not been confirmed if they got married formally.
According to BBC, She comes from a drug cartel family herself since her father, Inés Coronel was a well-respected member of the Sinaloa cartel and is currently serving a 10-year jail sentence in Mexico for drug smuggling.
Emma Coronel told The New York Times that El Chapo is “an excellent father, friend, brother, son, partner” and goes against the testimony in court about her husband.

El Chapo was born in Sinaloa, Mexico to a poor farming family in 1957 with three unnamed brothers, a father, and a mother.
Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera is considered one of the biggest cartel drug lords in the world, he is the former leader of the notorious Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico.
He oversaw the production and trafficking of all kinds of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and heroin to the United States and Europe. El Chapo means ‘shorty’ in Spanish. Other than Emma Coronel, he approximately has four spouses and 15 children.
