Moscow hit by rare drone attack
The Russian capital and its surrounding areas were targeted by rare drone attacks on Tuesday morning, causing “minor” damage to buildings and no casualties, Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin says.

Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler, reporting from Kyiv, says it’s been a very difficult morning in the Ukrainian capital after authorities said it shot down “nearly 30 drones across the city”.
“A terrifying night again for people in Kyiv with another huge Russian drone attack. Ukrainian air defence saying it shot down nearly 30 drones across the city […] We know now that a 30-year old woman was killed in that attack and a number of others injured,” she said.
“These attacks have been going on night after night now. This is the third consecutive attack now, [and] people are not sleeping.”
Butler said Ukrainian officials have “promised” a swift response to the attacks, and Ukrainians are watching the reports from Moscow about a drone attack and saying, “this is what we have to go through and this why this war must end.”

Moscow residents begin returning home: Mayor
The mayor of Moscow says residents are beginning to return home after a drone attack in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Sergey Sobyanin said on VK, “Emergency services have taken all the necessary measures to study the circumstances of buildings damaged by UAVs. Evacuated for the purpose of unhindered work of special services, residents are beginning to return to their homes. Residents of the building on Leninsky Prospekt will be the first to return to their apartments. Specialists have been instructed to eliminate minor damages in buildings as soon as possible.”
The drone attacks hit some of Moscow’s most prestigious areas, including Leninsky Prospekt, a grand avenue created under Josef Stalin, and the area of western Moscow where the Russian elite, including Putin, have homes.One killed, four injured in Kyiv drone strikes: Mayor
According to the mayor of Kyiv, at least one person has been killed and four people injured due to falling debris following a Russian strike early Tuesday morning.
Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram, “As a result of falling debris, a fire broke out in a high-rise building. Another residential building was damaged. So far, rescuers have evacuated 20 people. One person died. In total, four victims were hospitalised in [the] Holosiivskyi district.”
Ukrainian official denies Kyiv’s involvement in Moscow drone attack
A Ukrainian presidential aide denied Kyiv was responsible for a drone attack on Moscow but said that Ukraine enjoyed watching it unfold.
“Of course, we are pleased to watch and predict an increase in the number of attacks. But of course we have nothing directly to do with this,” Mykhailo Podolyak told the YouTube channel Breakfast Show.

Russian lawmaker Maxim Ivanov said the attack on Moscow this morning was the most serious attack on the Russian capital since World War II, saying no citizen could now avoid what he said was “the new reality”.

Ukraine says it has downed 29 out of 31 drones, mainly over Kyiv and the Kyiv region in the latest Russian barrage — the third on the capital in 24 hours.
“Between 11:30pm and 4:30am, Russian occupation troops attacked Ukraine” with 31 Shahed-136/131 drones, of which 29 were downed. Almost all 29 drones were downed “near the capital and in the Kyiv skies,” the Ukrainian air force said on social media.
