The Katara Handicraft Competition draws inspiration from the women’s handcraft heritage

The deadline to submit entries is 1st September, and valuable prizes for the first three places winners

 

In cooperation with the of the Qatari Women’s Pen Forum, the  Cultural Village Katara organizes the Katara Handicraft Competition inspiring from the women crafts legacy. This competition aims to provide great opportunities to exchange ideas, experiences and discover the aesthetics of Qatari women works and documenting the national identity.

One of the conditions of the competition is that the contestant must be at least 18 years old and she has to select to work on one of the following vocabulary related to the women artisan heritage: Al-marash, Sadu or Makhala and use it in contemporary creative works that are products, handicrafts or souvenirs, which contributes to inspiring their values and beauties.

Persons wishing to participate in this competition must submit a sample of products, handicrafts or souvenirs to the Qatari Women’s Pen Forum in building 18 (first floor), no later than 1st September. The samples are to be created and executed by the participant specially for this competition.

The winner of the first place will get 25000 Qatari Riyals, the second place winner will receive an award of 20000 Qatari Riyals, and the third place winner will receive 15000 Qatar Riyals.
