World-class Argentinian soccer player Diego Maradona died overnight aged 60.
Diego Maradona was recovering at home following brain surgery in Buenos Aires, where he was treated for a blood clot on the brain earlier this month. While recovering at home, Maradona suffered a heart attack and passed away shortly afterwards.
The late soccer legend has also struggled with alcohol in the past, and was hospitalized in 2007 with hepatitis and effects of alcohol abuse.
Argentina’s president said there will be three days of national mourning following the death of the country’s most famous footballer.
Fans and social media users misread Maradona’s name as Madonna and paid rich tributes to the ‘Hung up’ singer.
And as tweets began circulating mourning Madonna’s mistaken death, others began to search for the news of her death and ended up topping google trends.
