Leona Lewis Wants to Adopt a Child?

Leona Lewis Wants to Adopt a Child?

The singer, 35, said that she’d like to adopt because of her mother’s experience growing up in a children’s home.

The Bleeding Love hitmaker said Dennis, who she married in July 2019, is keen to start a family and if it was up to him, they would have had kids ‘yesterday’.

She told Stella magazine: ‘I do want children, but Dennis and I have also talked about adopting.

‘My mum grew up in a children’s home. No one adopted her as a child, and I would very much like to adopt.

‘But I’m still figuring things out. If it was up to my husband, we would have had kids yesterday.’

At the start of lockdown, the couple had just moved into their California ranch and Leona said she was ‘devastated’ to be separated from her horses.

The singer said: ‘As we had just moved, we didn’t have our horses, just our dogs, and I was devastated.

‘I wasn’t with my family or Dennis’s. There were a lot of tears, but lockdown gave me the chance to really focus on my music.’

The One More Sleep singer is hopeful she and Dennis can spend Christmas either with her parents in London or Dennis’s mother in Germany.

She said: ‘We take it in turns and what’s lovely about being with D’s parents is that we follow German traditions and celebrate on Christmas Eve. We just enjoy all being together.

‘The mums tend to do the cooking and I’ll do table decorating. And if we are in England, I’ll see my brothers’ children and lots of cousins on Boxing Day, which is a lot of fun.

‘We are trying to work out if we can all be together this year. Covid makes it so hard for families, but I just want that lovely day of cooking, singing, relaxing and being together.’

Leona recently returned to London to see her family for the first time in six months amid the coronavirus pandemic.

She took to Instagram on October 15, sharing a photo of herself in black wide leg jeans and a purple jumper.

The singer wore her curly locks in a practical high bun and kept herself protected in a black, white and yellow face covering.

In the caption, she wrote: ‘Smiling on the inside. After 6 months I got to come home and be with my family and friends in London.

‘This is the longest time I’ve been apart from them and to say it’s been emotional is an understatement.

‘My heart is with all those who still can’t be with loved ones, this year continues to be so challenging, I’m sending love and distanced hugs to you all ‘ In July Leona revealed that she was already writing Christmas songs to try and keep her mind off the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer released a cover of Robbie Williams’ Angels in tribute to the NHS and told how looking forward to the Yuletide season is helping her get through lockdown. Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, she said: ‘I’m already writing Christmas songs.

It makes me happy to look forward to Christmas now, especially with everything going on.’ Leona admitted she has had to become self-sufficient with her music career while in lockdown.
