How Was Arab Literacy Day Marked in Saudi Arabia?

To mark Arab Literacy Day on Jan. 8, the Ministry of Education launched 1,142 online training programs, benefiting more than 29,000 people in its “Al-Hayy Al-Moutaalim” (Educated Neighborhood) centers.

Maha Al-Sulaiman, undersecretary for educational programs at the Ministry of Education, stressed the importance of Arab Literacy Day as a means of raising awareness of the widespread campaign to eradicate illiteracy in the Arab world and as a way of focusing on national advancement through education. She also noted that the use of modern technology to achieve sustainable development is in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
