The Dubai Police on Sunday announced the arrest of several people following a violent brawl in the emirate.
Brigadier Abdullah Khadim Sorour Al Maasim, director of the Bur Dubai Police Station, confirmed that the Dubai Police command and control centre received a tip-off on Saturday about a brawl between a number of men of two different nationalities. “Our officers were immediately dispatched to the scene to secure the lives of individuals and investigate the matter.” The incident took place in the Bur Dubai area.
“Preliminary investigations showed that the brawl broke out when an African national tried to pickpocket an Asian and this resulted in the incident,” Al-Maasim said.
According to the director of Bur Dubai Police Station, the four Africans who were involved in the fight were arrested. Meanwhile, four Asians were transferred to the hospital for treatment as they sustained some minor injuries. “Necessary legal actions were taken against the violators, and they have been referred to the competent authorities for further legal action” he added.
The Dubai Police has urged community members to report any offensive behaviours or dangerous violations to the emergency number 999.
