Bindi Irwin shared a touching tribute to her late father Steve Irwin on the 14th anniversary of his death.
Irwin was killed by a stingray at Batt Reef near Port Douglas, while shooting the documentary Ocean’s Deadliest that he was co-hosting with Philippe Cousteau Jr., the stingray suddenly attacked him and pierced his heart with its stinger, thus killing him.
“You’re always in my heart,” Bindi, captioned Friday’s throwback picture which featured young Bindi exploring on the beach while her dad was looking at her in action.
The late animal activist’s 14th death anniversary comes one month after his daughter announced she was pregnant with her first child from her husband Chandler Powell.
The 22-year-old wasn’t the only one who remembered the Crocodile Hunter star on his death anniversary, as Steve’s wife, Terri, also remembered him on Twitter.
“This is a particularly poignant moment in time for me, today marks 14 years since I lost Steve, after 14 wonderful years of marriage. I feel that I have a choice: celebrate love or struggle with grief. I choose love.” the 56 year-old captioned the picture
In August, Terri shared that Steve “would be so proud” of Bindi following her pregnancy announcement.
“This is the best day ever! I am over the moon to announce that @BindiIrwin and @chandlerpowell9 are going to have a baby! Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart, While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud,” she wrote in the caption.
