50 Years Later, Elton John Recreates ICONIC Rock And Roll Photo
Elton John recreated an iconic rock and roll photo with Alice Cooper and Eric McCormack on Sunday night.
Gathered together to celebrate their long-time musical collaborator Bernie Taupin’s birthday in LA, the icons huddled together for the snap.
Wearing his signature sunglasses, Elton beamed surrounded by his friends as Alice mimed holding a cigarette to Eric’s lips as he stood in for the late Paul Lynde.
Actor Eric shared the black and white party snaps on Monday, penning: ‘Bernie Taupin’s 21st Birthday and, last night, his 71st.
‘Fifty years later and I got to be Paul Lynde! Fifteen-year-old me would be losing his mind!’
Elton also took to social media to celebrate his long-term professional collaborators birthday.
Wishing his friend a happy birthday in the post, Elton wrote: ‘Celebrating the milestone birthday of my musical soulmate. Happy Birthday Brother, I love you.’
In another snap, also shared on Instagram, Elton’s husband David Furnish, 58, showcased the star-studded line-up of dinner guests.
David wrote: ‘What a swell party it was Happy Birthday @bernietaupinofficial.’
The group of dinner guests consisted of figures such as Kiefer Sutherland, as well as Alice Cooper and Eric McCormack.
Elton and Bernie have known each other since 1967 when they both responded to an advertisement from Liberty Records who were appealing for new songwriters.
The pair ended up collaborating and have worked together on most Elton’s music ever since.
The lyrics for hits such as Rocket Man, Crocodile Rock, Tiny Dancer and Candle In The Wind were all written by Bernie.
The duo were later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992.
It comes after Elton and his husband David were spotted out having dinner with Sharon Osbourne earlier this month.
Putting on a stylish display for the outing, Sharon teamed a white silk blouse with loose-fitting black trousers.
Sharon accessorised with a number of pearl necklaces and a silver pendant, and a diamond bracelet.
Her fiery red locks were brushed into a tousled style and she accessorised with stylish reusable face mask.
Elton, meanwhile, put on a dapper display in a blue coat that he donned over a white shirt and bright red trousers.
David opted for a more simple look as he donned a black suit that he offset with a pair of simple white trainers.
